Providing novel anatomical and functional information, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has revolutionized diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients suffering form diverse types of neurological and psychiatric conditions. More recently, these techniques are promoting a huge advance on our understanding of complex psychological processes. Using advanced techniques such as functional MRI and diffision-tensor imaging (DTI) and tractography, we have witnessed a true explosion on the knowledge about these processes and their disorders, which will certainly bear deep impact on therapeutic interventions at the medical, psychological and societal levels (Moll et al., The neural basis of human moral cognition, Nature Rev Neuroscience, 2005). Furhermore, the use of multi-detector computed tomography, with its unique capacity of generating high-resolution volumetric images of the whole body, has enabled an enormous advance in terms of diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

These sophisticated techniques tipically require the use of expensive and complex tools for image processing. In the present project, these tools will be adapted and implemented in a Web-based platform, which will allow distributed learning and use by a wide range of professionals from medical and scientific communities.
